Yes, and in a lifetime an average woman can swallow up to 4lbs of lipstick. But women have worn lipstick foreeeeeeever! the amounts pass FDA regulation, so it isn't harmful to any MAJOR extent unless they are eating tubes of it at a time.


Just read the ingrediants and find one with a non lead base. Better yet, find an all organic one with no lead!Did you know that lipstick, lip gloss, and such has a lot of lead in it?
Even though I picked you as the best answer, I still am worried, the FDA continues to have thier problems regulating lead. Lead cannot naturally leave our bodies without doctors intervention. Report Abuse

First of all, we all need to do more research on this topic. It's true that some makeup companies add some potentially toxic chemicals in their cosmetics. But guess what??? So does everyone else, pretty much.





Now, I'm not saying this is a good thing (rather, this is really scary!) but I find it ironic that we're making a big deal about lipstick when we should really be concerned about SHAMPOO, CLEANSERS, SUNSCREEN LOTIONS, MOISTURIZERS, etc. Those have a lot of potential toxins inside that we have never paid attention to before.





About the lead in lipstick--it's also been found that the lead in these lipsticks contain small amounts of lead, small enough not to make anyone sick. Besides, we're not EATING the tube of lipstick! The aspect of this situation is the fact that there IS lead, even if it's a small amount. But again, go back to the other products as well, most of which contain cancer-causing agents and harmful substances that are not as regulated by the FDA.

Also did you know that some lipstick brands are cancerous? Yah very true But i really dont think she will be poisoned just find something else like lip smackers chapstick or something..?
It's not ';a lot'; of lead, its trace amounts. In October the FDA said they would research the products.
